Mapungubwe National Park also known as “The lost city of Gold” is set against the northern border of South Africa, next to the great Limpopo river bordering Zimbabwe and Botswana. This World Heritage Site is the ideal location for anyone interested in wildlife, scenic landscape and fascinating history. The park is divided into a western and eastern section, separated by private lands which do not form part of the park.
Extraordinary history and famous for the Golden Rhino from the iron age Kingdom of Mapungubwe, this artefact made from wood and covered by gold was found on a royal grave on Mapungubwe Hill in 1932.
