Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park

The Kgalagadi Transfrontier Park is a large wildlife preserve in the Kalahari Desert region of Southern Africa. The park comprises two adjoining national parks, The Kalahari Gemsbok National Park in South Africa and the Gemsbok National Park in Botswana, on the borders of Namibia.

Characterised by its red sand dunes and the dry river beds of the Nossob and Auob Rivers, said to only once every century, which explains the name of “Kgalagadi” meaning “Place of thirst”.

Wildlife includes migrating herds of wildebeest and springbok, visitors are often treated to the sites of the rare black-maned Kalahari lions which roam these areas. The Gemsbok, a large desert antelope which is also the emblem of the park, can also be found within the park.

Morning and sunset game drives available at Twee Rivieren, Nossob, Mata-Mata and at the Kalahari Tented Camp. Various 4×4 trails for the off road enthusiast.
