On the foothills of the Langeberg Mountains bordering the Breede River, you will find the smallest of the South African National Parks. The park was established to ensure the preservation and conservation of the rare Bontebok, this unusually marked antelope is extremely rare and only about 200 of them can be found in the park.
The Bontebok National Park forms part of the Cape Floral Kingdom UNESCO World Heritage Site.
The park lacks large and dangerous predators, allowing for great outdoor activities including hiking trails and mountain biking trails. Located so close to the town of Swellendam, makes this park perfect for a picnic or braai on the banks of the Breede River at “Die Stroom”.
