The Wodehouse Peak Trail is a 9km lightly trafficked circular trail located in the beautiful Golden Gate Highlands National Park. The hike is rated as difficult as there are some steep sections and the descent can be quite a challenge and calls for a certain level of caution.
The sandstone faces created interesting overhangs to explore and the view from the vantage point is nothing short from spectacular overlooking the Golden Gate Highlands National Park.
This well marked trail starts from close to the SAN Parks by the Glen Reenen Rest Camp. At one point you will need to slide yourself down a section of open face rock with metal poles that have been drilled into the rock for assistance, making this hike for the more adventurous.
Wodehouse Peak was named after Sir Percy Wodehouse, the governor of the Cape in the 1840’s. He was responsible for erecting beacons on the Rooiberge to create a border system, the first of these beacons was erected on Wodehouse hill.
