The Tsitsikamma Big Tree Nature Walk is a 1.3km circular trail near the entrance to the Storms River Village. This trail offers scenic views and being a very easy walk is good for all skill levels.
The entrance is situated on the N2, and is well sign posted “Big-Tree”. This enormous Outeniqua Yellowwood (Podacarpus Falcatus) is estimated to be more than 800 years old, with a height of 36.6 meters and circumference of almost 9 meters.
There is a wooden boardwalk through the indigenous forest that will lead you to this Yellowwood giant, which is also surrounded by a wooden pathway giving you a view from every angle.
The Ratel Nature Walk can also be done from the tree onwards, and offers a 2.6km and 4.2km nature walk through the moist and indigenous forest, both of which are relatively easy trails.
