The Lion’s Head Hike is a 4.2km heavily trafficked circular trail which starts on the road to Signal Hill in Cape Town. Lion’s Head is a free standing peak located next to Table Mountain and approximately two thirds of its height.
The scenery on top of this peak is nothing short of spectacular, with some of the best views of Cape Town and surrounding areas. Having an epic 360 degree view of the city and Atlantic seaboard, will give you a truly memorable experience. The full route usually takes about 3 hours depending how much time you spend taking in the breathtaking views from the top.
The route is rated as moderate as you get great elevation gain for a short hike, and some chains and ladders will need to be climbed in order to reach the summit. The route is best done at sunrise or sunset, allowing for a truly unforgettable experience.
Great alternative for when Table Mountain is covered in clouds, also recommend doing the hike as part of a group as there have been some safety concerns after sunset.
