Echo Ravine Hiking Trail

The Echo Ravine Trail is a 2.3km moderately trafficked out and back trail located in the Golden Gate Highlands National Park. The trail starts at the Glen Reenen Rest Camp and is one of the shorter routes, but also one of the most picturesque, taking about an hour to complete.

The hike moves upwards into a ravine and splits into many sub paths near the ravine, most paths leading to the same place but some leading to dead ends.

The chamber eroded and hollowed out over the years by the wind and water, forming a natural echo chamber between the cliffs approximately 15m high. The chamber reverberates any sounds made, giving this spot its name. During the rainy season from October to March the water trickles from the overhangs creating a magnificent sight.
