Buffels Bay Paragliding

Taking the N2 turnoff before Knysna to Buffels Bay feels like turning into a little piece of paradise. The little winding road turns through beautiful pastures around the Goukamma river and arrives at the stretched out beach of the Goukamma Nature Reserve.

With surfers and SUP paddle boarders in the small right hand wave, any adventure seeker will feel right at home. Looking left, towards the north, you will see the launch site high above the beach that stretches to Brenton on Sea and the Knysna Heads.

The light onshore winds, being South East or the more preferable South West, pushing up against the hill makes for a stunning flying session with many dolphin and whale sightings. And landing on the beach here is a must as you can grab a cold beer within 3 mins of bagging your kite.

I would suggest chatting to some pros before just hitting the thermals here. All the companies in the area are very relaxed and will offer advice freely – along with some sky-high stoke of course!
